All those translations are kept in a TM file which is apart from the document being translated. Therefore, it can also be used for future projects. In fact, many clients require that you send them that file in case they need to translate again a document. This is very useful because, as anybody who has done even some small translation work knows, very frequently sentences are repeated within the same document or set of documents. Another very useful feature is that you can store words in a Glossary. Those words are afterwards highlighted when they appear again and you can choose to see what you had stored there quite easily. This is extremely useful... there are many times that you have to do quite some research for the meaning and right translation of a term. Those terms are bound to come up again and certainly, you don't want to do the same research one more... you really appreciate that somebody reminds you that you had already done it and what you had found.
Finally, and very important detail, is that Anaphraseus is an Open Source plug-in, that works with OpenOffice.org. You can find a very simple and useful manual at Tony Baldwin's web-site: http://baldwinsoftware.com/AnaphraseusManual_1.23b.html Comments (0) |

There is a good number of specific software applications and plug-ins for the translators world, as for any other field, which help a lot in our job so as to give a better service to our clients. These packages are not softwares that "do translation", i.e. machine translators, they are aids which help a professional translator to do better his work.
